Dress Code 
It is suggested that Royal Navy Personnel wear No 1Cs for Day One of the Conference. International Navies may wear uniform or business suits as appropriate. Lounge suits should be worn for the rest of the conference and receptions.

The Aim
As navies and industry continue to face numerous challenges and financial pressures, INEC 2012 with its overall theme of ENGINEERING NAVAL CAPABILITY examines the drive towards doing more with less, and yet still providing platforms capable of global and expeditionary operations that will require an unparalleled degree of engineering skill not seen before.

Conference themes include: Ship design, Electric propulsion, Civil/military transfer, System selection, Environment and safety, Unmanned operations, Design, Survivability, Sustainability, Submarines and Affordability.

INEC 2012 Networking and Events

  • 15 May - Sea your Future @inec2012 Careers Event at 1630 hours followed by Reception for all attendees at 1735 hours.  ​Councillor Donald Wilson of the City of Edinburgh Council will give the welcome address for the INEC Reception.
  • 16 May - Conference Reception aboard Royal Yacht Britannia at 1930 hours. All INEC attendees are warmly invited.
  • 18 May - Industrial visit to Rosyth hosted by Babcock to see the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carrier Project. * Please note that the maximum number of places have been allocated. Attendees who have received confirmation for the Industrial visit will be provided with an itinerary and timetable.

Sir Donald Gosling Award
The 2012 Sir Donald Gosling Award in association with INEC 2012 will be presented during the afternoon Plenary Closing Session on Thursday 17 May 2012 at 1600 hours. The award consists of 3 prizes (first prize £5,000; second prize £2,500; third prize £1,500). Financial awards will be shared equally between named joint authors and a certificate will be awarded for each individual author.
