The son of an IMarEST member was born with ‘Treacher Collins Syndrome’, which meant that he was without external ears. Aged 17 years, the Guild funded the hospital equipment needed to provide him with a bone anchored hearing aid. This was the first time such an operation had been performed in his country. For the first time in his life, he could hear and safely travel to school alone. He is now able to learn how to speak. The Guild continues its support by funding the upkeep of the hearing device.
