The Guild has published a 100th Anniversary booklet commemorating the sacrifice made by the engineers of the Titanic. The charity was created in 1912 to support the widows, children and other dependents of Titanic’s lost Marine Engineers. Today the Guild remains very active and is the only nautical charity directly linked to the Titanic. The charity continues to play a vital role looking after Marine Engineers in need and their dependents worldwide.
The Guild's 16-page fully illustrated commemorative booklet contains the history of the Titanic, drawings and photographs of the ship and its machinery; a tribute to the engineers - all of whom are named and whose photographs appear in the booklet, along with details of the safety measures that resulted from the Titanic catastrophe, and information on the Guild of Benevolence. Port Dunedin’s bell has found its final resting place outside the Members Lounge at Coleman Street HQ following its return from the Guild House, now the Oakland Grange Residential Home, in Littlehampton.
To mark the 80th Anniversary in 1992 of the sinking of RMS Titanic, the Guild published a Commemorative Brochure as a tribute to the Engineering Staff, all of whom lost their lives in the tragedy.
