Student (SIMarEST)
Student members are those enrolled on a programme of further or higher education accredited or recognised by the IMarEST.
Fellow (FIMarEST)
Fellows are those who qualify for the category of Member and have demonstrated, to the satisfaction of Council, a level of knowledge and understanding, competence and commitment involving superior responsibility for the conceptual design, management or the execution of important work in a marine related profession, and have given a commitment to abide by the Institute’s Code of Professional Conduct. In most cases applicants for Fellow will be required to undertake the IMarEST Professional Review.
Chartered Engineer (CEng)
The IMarEST is licensed by the Engineering Council to confer this award to suitably qualified people. The standards are set by the ECUK on behalf of the UK Engineering Institutions. Refer to UK – SPEC for the standards required for registration (www.engc.org.uk).
Chartered Scientist (CSci)
The IMarEST is licensed by the Science Council to confer this award to suitably qualified people. The standards are set by the Science Council UK on behalf of the Science Bodies that belong to the Science Council. Chartered Marine Technologist (CMarTech)
The IMarEST has been awarded its own Royal Charter by the Privy Council. The IMarEST owns this title and is the only body allowed to confer this title to suitably qualified applicants. Applicants wishing to register as a Chartered Marine Technologist must satisfy the requirements as set by the IMarEST. Refer to the CMarTech document.
