This online tool benefits young professionals and experienced members who wish to use an online method to record their professional development against set standards for Initial Professional Development (IPD) or against guidelines for Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Recording both IPD and CPD is increasingly important for members seeking to gain registration, upgrade membership or simply progress in their career.

What are IPD and CPD?

Who should use the online tool?
The online tool can be used to do the following
• Record IPD in order to apply for one of the IMarEST/Engineering Council or Science Council grades of registration
• Record CPD in order to upgrade IMarEST membership from Member (MIMarEST) to   Fellow (FIMarEST)
• Revalidate your Chartered Scientist (CSci) registration
• Record evidence of CPD or produce action plans in order to support your current job or to help you gain new employment in the future.

Unsure of which category you fall into?

Can non members use the tool?
The system requires you to put in your IMarEST membership number to access the IMarEST page. If you wish to use the tool to support a new membership application please contact membership@imarest.org in order to receive an application number. Please note: with a temporary membership number you will only be able to access the tool for 4 months. If you do not become a member of the IMarEST within this time your access will be removed.
An alternative option is to join the IMarEST as an Elective Member. This is the fastest route into membership. If you apply as an Elective Member you will receive a number of membership benefits immediately whilst giving you time to complete your full application for corporate membership. Who should check IPD and CPD records as updated?
Your IPD/CPD record can be checked at any time by emailing a report either to a mentor, line manager, membership application referee or another person of your choice. You should not submit your report to the IMarEST membership department until you are ready to transfer your membership, apply for registration of revalidate your CSci registration.

What should I do when I believe my record is complete?
If you are a first time applicant or you are wishing to transfer your membership from Member to Fellow you will still need to complete the relevant application form. You should use the competency based report from mypath to complete your application making sure you have thoroughly read the requirements given in the relevant application guidelines.
