The IMarEST recognises that the training offered to Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) Marine Engineering Officers and Ratings is amongst the best in the world, with excellent professional development assessment and quality control mechanisms in place.
Consequently, under the licence authority vested in it by the Engineering Council, and in partnership with the RNZN, the IMarEST has created a special streamlined process for Marine Engineering Officers and Ratings to apply for IMarEST Professional Membership and Registration as Chartered Engineer (CEng, CMarEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng, IMarEng), and Engineering Technician (EngTech, MarEngTech) depending on their level of experience.
The IMarEST’s streamlined route to membership and registration requires only the completion of a short application form, confirmation of RNZN qualifications and copies of academic certificates.
Which category of membership and registration should I apply for?
|
RNZN Officers wishing to join/upgrade to the Membership category of Fellow (FIMarEST):
|
| Commander and above |
• Non-members of the IMarEST who hold the rank of Commander and wish to gain Professional Registration in addition to Membership should fill out both the appropriate registration category form and select the FIMarEST category in section 3 of the application form.
• Commanders and above wishing to obtain Professional Registration on the Engineering Registers will need to meet the requirements as stipulated in the RNZN Streamlined Route for Marine Engineering Officers and Ratings.
• Non-Marine Engineering Officers and Ratings (for example, Warfare Officers and Hydrographers) are eligible for membership of the IMarEST and registration on the Institute’s Science and Technology registers. Further details can be obtained from the IMarEST Membership Services Team.
