With offshore renewables now becoming a truly global industry, IMarEST aims to be the global professional organization that represents the offshore renewables industry. Important activities will include knowledge-sharing amongst members, policy formulation and standard setting.
IMarEST is the host of a new Special Interest Group (SIG) on Offshore Renewables, which held its inaugural meeting on 23 February 2011.
SIGs are formed by IMarEST members sharing a common interest. They use certain facilities at IMarEST HQ, share knowledge among SIG members and disseminate that knowledge to a wider audience through IMarEST's extensive international network, including via a dedicated web page on the IMarEST website.
As a neutral learned professional society, IMarEST and its Offshore Renewables SIG will be useful to all
stakeholders involved and interested in meeting the UK target of 15% energy from Renewable sources by 2020.
