PRINCIPAL SPEAKER ANNOUNCED FOR IMarEST’S 109TH ANNUAL DINNER
Captain Stephen Clinch, Chief Inspector at the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), will be the Principal Guest and speaker at the 109th Annual Dinner of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST). The dinner, being held on Friday 9 March 2012, will be hosted by IMarEST’s incoming President, Malcolm Vincent CEng CMarEng FIMarEST, at The Grange St Paul's Hotel in the heart of the City of London, the area which has played host to IMarEST throughout the major part of its long history.
“The MAIB examines and investigates all types of marine accidents to, or on board, UK vessels worldwide, and other vessels in UK territorial waters, so I have no doubt that our diners from all over the world can expect a fascinating insight into the work of the organisation from Captain Clinch,” says David Loosley, IMarEST’s Chief Executive. “The evening marks an important point in our annual calendar, for it is the occasion when our incoming President delivers his inaugural address, having been formally elected the day before the Annual Dinner takes place. Malcolm Vincent will become our 110th President.
“The evening is renowned for bringing together engineers, seafarers, scientists and technologists involved in all aspects of, and disciplines in, the marine industry from above water to subsea, and is a marvellous opportunity for networking. We look forward to welcoming up to 500 Members and their guests.”
Established in London, just over the boundary of the City of London in Whitechapel, the IMarEST is the leading international membership body and learned society for marine professionals, with over 15,000 members worldwide. It has an extensive marine network of 50 international branches, affiliations with major marine societies around the world, representation on the key marine technical committees and non-governmental status at the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Bookings – individual or tables – can be made by contacting the Events Department of IMarEST on +44 (0)20 7382 2636 and at events@imarest.org. Further information is also available at www.imarest.org
