The Cyprus Branch of the IMarEST Annual Dinner Dance took place on the 30th October and went off with its usual popular success.320 guests and sponsors attended the dinner dance where the highly entertaining guest speaker was the the Rev.Tom Heffer Secretary General of the Mission to Seafarers from the UK.
This event has grown in popularity every year and in addition to the local marine industry population it attracts many IMarEST members and sponsors from off the island who take the opportunity for week of business and pleasure in Cyprus.
During the evening a tombola raised 1600 euro for the Missions to Seafarers and presentations of 675 euro each were made to Friends for Life , (a local Cyprus based charity) and the IMarEST Guild of Benevolence, this money was collected during the IMarEST technical presentations and social events which took place during 2010

The dinner dance was followed up by a lazy Sunday afternoon spent at the Famagusta Nautical Club on Limassol beach, where members were able to relax from the night before on a sunny but slightly windy afternoon.
The annual golf event was held in brilliant sunshine on the 1st November at Aphrodite Hills Resort and was sponsored for the 3rd year running by Lloyds Register , (who also provided the essential bacon rolls at the 10th tee).
The high speed greens threw several players into a “spin”, but all enjoyed the event thoroughly.
The winner of the main event for members was Graham Bond MIMarEST, and for a 2nd year running Ian Revell from Lloyds Register was the winner of the non members shield, this trophy has been sponsored for many years by our friends at Exxon Mobil (who also sponsored the meal afterwards).
