The Journal of Operational Oceanography will also publish papers which address the requirements of the: Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS), Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) and the Global Earth Observing System of Systems (GEOSS) All papers published in the Journal of Operational Oceanography are eligible for the IMarEST Denny Medal.
A medal is awarded to the author(s) of the best paper published in the calendar year up to a maximum of 3 authors. The vote is cast by the journals Editorial Board and the IMarEST Publications Supervisory Board.
Author Guidelines
An author wishing to submit a paper to the Journal must ensure it complies with our author guidelines. These are provided to ease the publication process for an author and ensure any submission meets strict criteria regarding, image use, copyright, paper length etc. You can download a copy of this in the documents section at the bottom of this page.
Submission of papers
To submit a paper, please ensure that it meets the author guidelines (most importantly that any images are of a resolution of at least 300dpi) and is of an appropriate subject matter. Then upload the file using the link below.
Once a paper has been submitted it will be subjected to peer-review. Our Proceedings Administrator will seek referees who will give their evaluation of the papers technical quality. Authors are invited to nominate suitable, impartial referees if they wish. Once referee evaluation forms have been returned we will contact you with regards to the position of your paper. In many cases the referees will suggest amendments which the author will be asked to attend to before the paper is suitable for publication. In some cases papers will be rejected at this stage.
