Marine Technical Notes is a new free online journal for IMarEST members, presenting research of an operational nature in the fields of marine engineering, science and technology. Content includes technical papers, review papers, student papers, lecture presentations, technical notes and letters.

The primary aim of the journal is to keep members informed of the latest practice, operational research, discussion and development taking place in the wider marine world. 

Papers will not be subjected to peer-review. The editor will review papers before they are published. They will then be open for discussion to members in a designated forum. Authors wishing to amend their papers as a result of any discussion are entitled to do so.

The best papers, as judged by the editor, will be collected together to form an issue.  Two issues are published in a calendar year forming one volume of the Journal.

In order to maintain free member access, Marine Technical Notes is published online only to reduce printing and distribution costs. However, hard copy issues of the journal can be produced for a minimal cost for libraries wishing to bind and may in special circumstances be made available for members unable to access online.
