Welcome to the Special Interest Group on Marine Salvage and Counter Pollution
The Marine Salvage and Counter Pollution SIG held its inaugural meeting on 25 February 2011, chaired by Simon Rickaby, Managing Director, Braemar Howells, with the following agenda:
1. Highlight major maritime issue(s) to be faced at present and over the next 5-10 years
2. Identify the biggest threat(s) to the maritime environment in general, and in relation to handling marine salvage, oil or HNS spills specifically.
3. Do the adequate skills and resources exist for combating marine salvage and spills?
4. Is there a worst practise in a maritime industry sector or in a geographical area that needs to be addressed?
5. Is there a subject or operation in this context that the IMarEST should consider becoming involved with, support or has the opportunity to take the lead on.
6. Propose a topic that would benefit from a one-day conference, an open discussion workshop or a seminar, to be arranged by the IMarEST.
The minutes of the 25 February 2011 meeting are available on the members-only part of this page. The date, time and location of the next meeting will be announced in due course.
As a neutral learned professional society, IMarEST and its Marine Salvage and Counter Pollution SIG will be useful to all stakeholders in marine salvage and spill issues.
