The IMarEST’s course accreditation policy

< back

The IMarEST will accredit or approve academic courses and industry-based graduate training/development programmes in marine engineering, marine science and marine technology. The IMarEST will also recognise short courses that assist members in maintaining their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

The Accreditation, Approval or Recognition of courses and training programmes means that the IMarEST has assessed the course/programme against a set of criteria that ensures a high standard of courses content, provision and assessment. The process is by peer review by a panel of marine engineering, marine science or marine technology experts and lasts for a maximum of 5 years. After this period reaccreditation, reapproval or resubmission for recognition is required.

The IMarEST endeavours to ensure that the highest standards are maintained on all courses and training programmes that are accredited, approved or recognised.
