The IMarEST recognises that the training offered to Royal New Zealand Navy Marine Engineer Officers and Ratings is amongst the best in the world, with excellent professional development assessment and quality control mechanisms in place.
Consequently, under the license authority vested in it by the Engineering Council (UK), and in partnership with the RNZN, the IMarEST has created a special streamlined process for Marine Engineer Officers and Ratings to apply for IMarEST Professional Membership and Registration as Chartered (CEng, CMarEng), Incorporated (IEng, IMarEng), and Technician (EngTech, MarEngTech), depending on their level of experience.
The IMarEST’s Streamlined Route to membership and registration requires only the completion of a short application form, confirmation of RNZN qualifications and copies of academic certificates. This means that, with a few exceptions:

Please note that this streamlined route is a standard route. Experienced people with early career training may well be eligible for membership and registration sooner, but they will need to go through the usual IMarEST professional review process.
