IMarEST CELEBRATES WORLD MARITIME DAY AT SMM 2008
There’s an open invitation to all at SMM 2008 to celebrate World Maritime Day (as designated by the IMO) by visiting the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) stand at the show on Thursday 25 September, when a drinks reception will be held; and there will be discount across all IMarEST products and services at the stand.
The IMarEST drinks reception, in partnership with Conidia Bioscience, will be held on stand 340, Hall B1 Upper floor at 16.00 hrs. “We are delighted to be observing this key day in the maritime industry’s calendar with IMarEST,” says James Lesley, Director, International Business Development, Conidia Bioscience. “We have recently become an IMarEST Marine Partner and are eager to play an active role in the work of the Institute. What better way of getting our relationship off to a flying start than celebrating in this way!”
“It is most rewarding that Conidia Bioscience is so eager to work with us on a key event like this,” says IMarEST’s Chief Executive, Keith Read CBE. “Our Marine Partners initiative is going from strength to strength. There are now over 40 organisations from all over the world taking part in our corporate partnership programme.
“Customised packages are created by working closely with each Marine Partner organisation, we recognise that each one has different needs. Our team on the stand at SMM will be explaining the benefits of both corporate and professional individual membership to visitors. Indeed in honour of World Maritime Day IMarEST will be waiving the joining fee for any individuals who join at the stand during SMM.”
Further information on IMarEST’s role with and on behalf of members is available from the stand at SMM and from www.imarest.org

About World Maritime Day
Every year IMO celebrates World Maritime Day this year’s theme "IMO: 60 years in the service of shipping". was chosen as an appropriate way in which to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the adoption of the IMO Convention (1948) and the 50th anniversary of its entry into force (1958). The IMarEST:Conidia Bioscience reception is just one of many events planned for 25 September; IMO themselves will be celebrating at the Organization's refurbished Headquarters.
