NETWORKING OPPORTUNITY FOR MARINE COMMUNITY:
ANDREW M JACKSON JOINS FORCES WITH THE IMarEST TO HOST NETWORKING EVENING

Hull law firm Andrew M Jackson ("AMJ") and the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology ("IMarEST"), have joined forces to host an inaugural networking event specifically for the marine community of the Humber and East Yorkshire.

The event, which takes place in Hull later this month, aims to encourage local companies, organisations and individuals working in the marine sector - as well as marine engineering, science and technology students and postgraduates - to share ideas, establish new contacts and network with other businesses in the industry. It also provides the chance to learn more about the IMarEST and its key role within the marine industry.

Iain Butterworth, honorary secretary of the IMarEST's Kingston upon Hull and Humber area branch, who is a shipping and transport solicitor at AMJ, said: "As AMJ is a marine partner of IMarEST, I am delighted that we have been invited to host this event jointly in the area. The Humber's prime location means it can offer a wealth of opportunities for companies and organisations operating in the marine sector. It is number one in the UK for shipping tonnage, with total shipping movements in excess of 40,000 per annum.

"Clearly, some companies are realising the opportunities available to them, as there are a number of initiatives and developments taking place, such as significant investment in ports infrastructure and the development of landside sites, which can take advantage of rapid access to the UK distribution network. I believe that the Humber area is uniquely placed for further growth across all areas of shipping and transport related business."

Iain continued: "I would urge companies, organisations and students in the area to support the event, as it provides a fantastic opportunity to meet with other business people working in the marine industry, as well as the chance to find out more about the benefits the IMarEST offers as the leading organisation working to promote the development of marine engineering, science and technology."

The event takes place at 6pm - 7.30pm on 29 November at the Hotel Elizabeth, Ferriby High Street, North Ferriby HU14 3LG. A number of short presentations will be followed by networking; a buffet and wine.
