IMarEST and BIMCO 39 Knowledge Network Seminar

All shipping personnel are invited to a BIMCO 39 Networking Seminar co-hosted by the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) on Wednesday 17 January at the City Conference Centre, 80 Coleman Street, London EC2R 5BJ (IMarEST headquarters).

"This is the first BIMCO 39 Knowledge Network event that we have hosted," explains Abi Virjee of IMarEST. "We are very much looking forward to it. As well as presentations on World Shipbuilding Trends (Stephen Gordon, Clarksons); Classification Societies (Andrew Alderson, RINA) and Air Pollution, MARPOL and the IMO (Niels Bjørn Mortensen, BIMCO) in an 80 minute-long seminar, starting at 18.00hrs and chaired by Elizabeth Wilson, Marine Client Manager, Lloyds Register, there will also be a post-seminar networking buffet when mixing and mingling is very much the order of the day."

BIMCO is one of IMarEST's Marine Partners. this is a special category of IMarEST membership open to companies and organisations operating in the marine and offshore sectors. Marine Partners profit from a variety of benefits (sponsorship and advertising opportunities; employee professional development, networking in a technical and professional global environment, access to marine data and information).

BIMCO, a truly international organisation with a membership base in more than 120 countries and over 2,500 companies, is an interest group and membership organisation offering practical and tangible services to ship-owners, managers, brokers, agents, operators, associations and other entities connected with the international shipping industry.

Both organisations are firm believers in the worth of involving young shipping professionals enabling them to meet, network and discuss issues of common interest. BIMCO operates the BIMCO 39 initiative; while IMarEST works with young professionals through its Young Members' Network. "This is the ideal opportunity for bringing members of both organisations together," says Abi Virjee. "We hope it will be the first of many such events both at IMarEST headquarters and elsewhere."
