The Role
To manage the IMarEST’s (www.imarest.org/theimarest ) engineering and technology affairs. Contributing and collating advice to develop the Institute’s policies on marine matters. Working with the membership to enhance the Institute’s reputation through its work at IMO and with other international and national bodies. Developing the Institute’s Learned Society activities and peer reviewed journals. Representing the Institute at defined conferences and events in the UK and abroad.
The Person
You will be an engineering or technology professional registerable as a chartered marine engineer or chartered marine technologist and, ideally, a Corporate member of the Institute with experience in the marine field. (www.imarest.org/membership/Membershiphandbook.pdf)
You should have a keen interest in marine matters, in general, and have an understanding of the marine engineering, science and technology disciplines. You should also be proactive in developing ideas and initiatives yet responsive to the needs of the Institute’s members and ideally have experience of working with many nationalities. You should also have experience of budget management. You should be an EU Passport Holder or have permission to work and reside in the UK.
