Technical Standards Manager

You will support the technical and policy work of the technical Radio Spectrum and Technical Standards Unit within the Navigation Safety Branch with emphasis on maritime radio and navigation equipment. Working with a small, friendly and professional team in our Navigation Safety branch, you will help to develop and implement standards for future systems. You will work on your own initiative developing policy and improving performance standards, often at the cutting edge of technology. Working closely with industry, you will represent stakeholders’ interests both in the UK and in Europe.
An experienced marine electronics specialist – with an HND in Electronics and Communications or similar qualification – you will also need, or be prepared to obtain, a GMDSS operating certificate, preferably GOC.

Experience working at national and international level is advantageous, and you will have well-developed communication and leadership skills. Some overseas travel, mostly within the EU, will be necessary.
