The IMarEST marine science activities will seek to incorporate
a means of collecting and disseminating information on all
aspects of marine sciences including the following:
Ballast Water, Communications and Navigation, Diving, Environmental
Assessment, Fishing and Aquaculture, Geology, Hydrography,
Marine Biology, Marine Biotechnology, Marine Mineral Resources,
Marine Pollution, Meteorology, Ocean and Ecosystem Modelling,
Oceanography (Physical, Chemical and Biological), Oceans and
Climate, Offshore Oil and Gas, Renewables, Seabed Mapping
and Subsea.
- To provide a more interdisciplinary all-embracing approach
to marine science. Integrating developments in the marine
science sector with the institutes work in the engineering
and technology field.
- To provide focal points for communications between marine
scientists both centrally and locally, assisting in the
exchange of knowledge and the advancement of expertise and
experience in the field. Focal points will include the Institute’s
website, e-marine newsletter, Marine Science magazine and
the Journal of Marine Science.
- To arrange or to support a series of meetings, conferences
and seminars in order for marine scientists to meet and
assimilate ideas.
- To provide a vehicle for Continuing Professional Development
(CPD) and to uphold and further the expertise, quality and
status of Group members working in the field. To develop,
