Date of Birth: 13th June 1963 (42)
Occupation: Examiner of Engineers I completed my cadetship with Cunard Shipping Services and moved up through the ranks serving with Cunard and Mobil,mainly on VLCCs. I joined Stena Line where I was promoted to Chief Engineer on an Irish Sea Ferry. I moved ashore to work for Marine Navigation as Engineering Training Superintendent and later joined Lloyd’s Register as a surveyor in the FOBAS Department specalising in fuel analysis. In 2001 I joined the Maritime and Coast Guard Agency as Examiner of Engineers where I am part of the team running the UK engineer certificate structure I have particular responsibility for engineering qualifications on super yachts and the qualifications for the fishing industry.
Electoral Statement: I believe that it is vital that the role of Engineers, Scientists and Technologists in the marine sector is recognised and promoted and, if elected to Council, I will work with The Institute towards this goal.
Elected: Member of IMarEST, CEng Having served as a co-opted member of the Professional Affairs and Education Committee in 2005, I was appointed to the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Professional Affairs and Education Committee and filled one of the casual vacancies on Council.
