Occupation: Managing Director
Sea-going service with MISC for 12 years. The last 3 years as Chief
Engineer. Assigned ashore as Engineer Superintendent in May
1998. In September 1988 jointed Baggerwerken Decloedt et Fils,
a Belgian Dredging Company’s Malaysian office as Technical
Superintendent for South East Asia. After formation of DEME
Group was transferred to Dredging International’s Hong Kong
office in October 1992 for the Chek Lap Kok Airport dredging
projects. In September 1994 joined Bureau Veritas and assigned to
South Korea for new building surveys. March 1995, left BV but
remained as their Non-Exclusive Surveyor until 2002. Started
own company in 1995 carrying out independent surveys for local
underwriters, owners etc. March 1998, engaged by BV South
Korea for new construction survey of Trailing Suction Hopper
Dredger at HHI Ulsan shipyard. Served three years to local passenger ship owner as Technical Adviser. Vessel under Barber Ship
Management. Undergone the Norwegian Professional Council for
Education and Certification of Inspectors for Surface Treatment as
well as the Small Craft Surveys Course at University of Plymouth.
Currently, Managing Director of Indah Marine Services carrying
out reefer container repairs, Radio Surveying to LR, ABS and GL,
various independent surveys and yacht surveys for underwriters
and owners.
Electoral Statement: Serving in the maritime fields in SEA for the past
20 years with various nationalities, I realised the world is gradually
becoming borderless. Apart from being an active local branch member, we need to assimilate further with our counterparts in other
regions too.
Elected: Associate Member 1985. Have been an active Committee
Member, Hon Treasurer and also Vice Chairman of the Malaysian Joint
Branch since 1995. Participated actively in the East Asia Division AGM
since 2001. Organised fund raising dinners for Malaysian Joint Branch
social accounts and assisting with Student Career talks and co-ordinating technical paper presentations.
