The Marine Technical Notes video award celebrates the work of marine engineers, scientists and technologists, across all the fields and disciplines, in which they have had a recent impact.
The award recognises an individual IMarEST member at an early stage in their career who has carried out a piece of work of interest/value in such fields as: marine science, marine engineering, marine technology, offshore oil & gas and renewable energy and is able to present that work in a novel and informative way via the media of film.
The competition is open to all IMarEST members who are currently students (undergraduate or postgraduate), cadets, apprentices, postdocs or professionals who graduated (from their most relevant degree) no longer than 5 years prior to their application.
Applications are made by means of a short video, no longer than 5 minutes in length, during which the applicant should introduce both themselves and their work.
For example, submissions of videos that accomplish the following:
- Highlight a research topic — contemporary or historic
- Introduce viewers to an exciting new marine related technology
- Explain marine concepts — the video could be used in the classroom for example
Submitted videos must be the original work of the person submitting the entry.
