In this talk, Kevin will discuss why cyber-security in the Maritime space is a very different problem to that encountered in the familiar IT sector and the implications of that for the industry.
He will address the current state of practice, using real world examples, and explore some of the work being done to address the issue of secure ships in the future.
Professor Kevin D Jones FIMarEST FIET FBCS CEng CSci CITP
Professor Kevin Jones is Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Plymouth, responsible for the Schools of Engineering, Computing & Mathematics, Biological & Marine Sciences, and Geography, Earth & Environmental Sciences. He holds a PhD in Computing Science from the University of Manchester, a MSc in Computation from Oxford University and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of Reading. He is a Fellow of the IMarEST, the IET and the BCS. Professor Jones leads the multidisciplinary Maritime Cyber Threats research group at the University of Plymouth, UK and is the Principle Investigator of the Cyber-SHIP Lab project.
