The Aberdeen Maritime Branch (AMB) is a joint branch of The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) and The Institute of Engineering and Shipbuilding in Scotland (IESIS).
The geographical area which AMB covers is a large one and extends from the North East of Scotland to the Shetland Isles. The membership is currently around 800.
Meetings are held in Aberdeen and there are normally four technical meetings per annum.
Social events include an annual dinner dance, normally held in September and a technical outing held in the Spring.
Due to the Oil and Gas industry in Aberdeen, there is a considerable focus on topics which are relevant to both the marine and offshore industries but we do try and incorporate the sciences as well whenever possible.
The branch is active but as always more attendees at the meetings would be welcome.
