East of England Branch evening lecture Friday 24 April 2020 - The Regulation of Chemicals used by the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry.
Bob Rowles is Senior Adviser on Chemical Risk within CEFAS (Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science), based in Lowestoft. Having graduated with degrees in chemistry and environmental studies, he has over twenty years’ experience in the chemical industry, prior to taking up his current position. He has worked for CEFAS since 2008, providing advice to regulators in both the UK and The Netherlands.
Chemicals are widely used by the Offshore Oil & Gas Industry in all operations, including drilling for new reserves and in the production activities that bring oil & gas on shore.
This talk provides an overview of the regulatory requirements that are in place in the UK to control the use of these chemicals to ensure that their environmental impacts are kept to a minimum.
