Check the status of the key issues around my scope, discuss way forward with contractor, manage interfaces, review design reports and liaise with fabrication team.

BSc in Civil Engineering and MSc Offshore Engineering at Delft University of Technology, Netherlands
What skills are required in your position on a day-to-day basis?
Good technical foundation. Interpersonal skills such as communicating/influencing. Business management skills such as prioritisation, planning and delivery.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
As you can see, my role is really varied. Every day brings a new surprise and challenge. It is very exciting.
What challenges have you had to overcome?
Establish my position in a male-dominated team with people that had worked in the industry for more than 30 years!
Describe a typical career path to your current role. How does this differ to your career path?
There are many different career paths in BP. You can follow, for example, the career path of a discipline engineer, operations engineer or project engineer. I started off as a subsea discipline engineer and have now moved into more project engineering roles.

I enjoy travelling and my role in BP (as well as some holidays) has brought me to many interesting places in the world! Recently I have visited mountain gorillas in Uganda and hopefully I will be moving to Azerbaijan later this year.
