- Initial Professional Development for Marine Technicians up to promotion as a Petty Officer
Accreditation of the above programme as meeting the IPD requirements, in full, for registration as an Engineering Technician and Marine Engineering Technician for a period of five years from 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2017
- Initial Professional Development for Marine Technicians up to promotion either as a Warrant Officer or as a Charge Qualified Chief Petty Officer on commencement of an appointment as the sole Engineer of an Inshore Patrol Vessel or larger vessel. (NB In a commercial vessel of this size, this appointment would require the holder to possess a Class 1 vessel).
Accreditation of the above programme as meeting the IPD requirements, in full, for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and Incorporated Marine Engineer for a period of five years from 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2017

- Initial Professional Development for Marine Engineer Officers up to successful completion of the Marine Engineer Charge Qualification (MCQ)/ Engineer Charge Qualification (ECQ)
Accreditation of the above scheme as meeting the further learning requirements, in full, for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and Incorporated Marine Engineer for a period of five years from 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2017
- Initial Professional Development for Marine Engineer Officers {post Marine Engineer Charge Qualification (MCQ)/Engineer Charge Qualification (ECQ)} either leading to commencement of the ‘Charge’ appointment asf Marine Engineer officer to a frigate or Engineer Officer of a Major Auxiliary Vessel (i.e. HMNZS Endeavour or HMNZS Canterbury) or a Protector class Offshore Patrol Vessel vessel, or upon the recommendation by the Branch Head of Marine Engineering, on taking up a third professional appointment post MCQ/ECQ qualification as a substantive Lieutenant Commander
Accreditation of the above programme as meeting the IPD requirements, in full, for registration as a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Marine Engineer for a period of five years from 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2017
