The IMarEST is delighted to announce that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HMS SULTAN, a training base of the Royal Navy and home of the Defence School of Marine Engineering, in Gosport, UK. The MoU recognises the value of the two institutions working together and exchanging information and ideas generated from their respective activities.
The IMarEST will provide professional development and technical support with the aim of guiding trainees at HMS Sultan towards professional registration, such as Incorporated Marine Engineer or Chartered Marine Engineer status. The Institute will also offer a series of academic awards to recognise marine engineering excellence for those achieving outstanding results whilst training.
The trainees will benefit from Student membership of the IMarEST for the duration of their studies as well as discounts to conferences and events.
“It is wonderful to see the commitment of HMS SULTAN to developing its trainees and ensuring they get the best possible start in, and supported throughout, their careers. Working together, we aim to support the Royal Navy in producing engineer Officers and Ratings of the highest standard.” Professor Chris Hodge OBE FREng CEng FIMarEST, President, IMarEST.
