The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) is delighted to welcome the Yacht Designers & Surveyors Association (YDSA) as our newest Marine Partner to the Institute. As the UK-based professional association for surveyors and designers of marine vessels, the agreement between YDSA and the IMarEST combines the best of both organisations to bring mutual professional development and a supportive relationship. This new Marine Partner status will help enhance YDSA’s commitment to ensuring that their Members have the support they need to set the worldwide standards in the designing and surveying of yachts, boats, and commercial vessels.
“YDSA is formalising an Educational Pathway that will ultimately link existing courses and future CPD programmes to the real-world of working marine professionals. Something that chimes strongly with the founding principles of IMarEST. Becoming a Marine Partner will allow us to apply the right framework and guidance that YDSA needs to develop this Educational Pathway and deliver a CPD programme of class-leading education and tailored skills training to existing and aspiring Marine Surveyors and Designers to ensure that they uphold the gold standards that YDSA has been setting since 1912.”
“This will mark the start of a brighter future for the entire industry, providing an environment where all professionals can progress and develop in line with a structured programme with the backing of a leading maritime body. It will also help to reinforce our Members as the industry’s Qualified Experienced Professionals and provide peace of mind for anyone engaging their services,” Jane Gentry, CEO, YDSA
IMarEST will work closely with YDSA to encourage continuing learning development, professional opportunities, and knowledge sharing between the organisations and in the wider marine community. The IMarEST’s Marine Partners have access to a global network of professionals and organisations covering all marine engineering, science and technology sectors, which helps to uphold the status, standards and knowledge of marine professionals worldwide.
Partners are also offered opportunities for discounts on training and international events which also includes access to the Virtual Library, a leading marine repository. Other benefits include our monthly magazine, The Marine Professional; access to Special Interest Groups, access to their local IMarEST Branch and much more.
“I am very glad to be able to welcome YDSA as a new Marine Partner and I look forward to the exciting opportunities we will have to continue to develop a supportive and prosperous relationship with both the organisation and its members. Connecting a global marine network and maintaining exceptional professional standards are just some of the benefits to come from our partnership with YDSA” Samantha Carter, Sales & Account Manager, IMarEST.
