The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) is delighted to confirm accreditation of four Bachelor courses at the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping (AMSUMIS) in St Petersburg.
Following a visit in October 2017, a report prepared by the visiting accreditation panel was approved at the December meeting of the Institute’s Professional Affairs and Education Committee (PAEC). All four Bachelor courses that were reviewed have been accredited as meeting the academic requirements for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and Incorporated Marine Engineer (IEng/IMarEng) in full.
IMarEST accredited courses highlight and recognise an organisation’s commitment to the development of its staff and students.
“We are delighted to have been invited to St Petersburg to accredit the courses at AMSUMIS. The IMarEST accredits courses both in the UK and internationally, and we are delighted to extend this to St Petersburg, a city with strong maritime history and tradition”. Tom Fanthorpe, Deputy Registrar.
AMSUMIS Deputy Director of the Office of Foreign Students Anatoly Burkov PhD commented:
“We are pleased with the result given to us by the IMarEST’s expert team with regards to the accreditation of our programmes with such an honoured organisation as the IMarEST. It was not an easy task to prepare everything, although we have had a positive experience with international accreditation in the past. With many changes in our national higher education, we still managed to comply with the requirements of the IMarEST and UK Engineering Council. AMSUMIS is going to uphold international accreditation of its maritime engineering courses for the benefits primarily of our professional marketability. In addition we expect to attract more brilliant youngsters on accredited programmes and extend options for them after graduation through recognition of their engineering education, confirmed by IMarEST”. Anatoly Burkov PhD, Deputy Director of the Office of Foreign Students, AMSUMIS.
