Western Shipping, a ship management solutions company based in Singapore, has partnered with the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST), the world’s largest international marine professional body, as a Marine Member of the Institute.
As part of this partnership, the IMarEST will offer membership and professional registration to Western Shipping’s shore-based professionals, and student membership (SIMarEST) for cadets. This will help establish a structured professional development framework for the organisation and allow it to showcase its technical competency and professionalism through its employees becoming professionally registered.
Captain Belal Ahmed, Managing Director for Western Shipping commented: “This is a fantastic partnership which demonstrates the professionalism and competence of our personnel. Partnering with the IMarEST will help our staff to further develop, and shows how we invest in the quality of our people.”
Western Shipping has nearly 20 years of experience in Oil and Chemical Tanker management, managing and supporting worldwide trading of a diverse fleet, consisting of MR (Oil/Chemical), Panamax (LR1) and Aframax (LR2) vessels.
David Kelly, IMarEST’s Director of Asia Pacific, said: “Western Shipping has demonstrated its commitment to supporting its employees’ long-term development through this partnership and we are delighted to be able to help in proving the strong capability we know they hold within the industry.”
