We're making some changes
The IMarEST is delighted to announce that we have moved to a new media agency, Think, who we are partnering with to produce our magazine, The Marine Professional, and its weekly newsletter.
Think is an established and respected membership publishing agency and we look forward to using their expertise to help us refresh and develop The Marine Professional title and its digital news channels.
Members and readers will notice some improvements to the magazine over the coming months which we believe will enhance The Marine Professional experience. Firstly we are changing the frequency of the magazine from twelve issues per year to six issues per year, with the next issue arriving in May. There will be no reduction in the amount of editorial content over the course of the year, it will simply be packaged into six larger issues. This will enable us to improve editorial quality, giving you a deeper analysis and more extensive coverage of new developments across the full breadth of the marine sector.
The reduction in frequency will also help to reduce the carbon footprint of the magazine. We will continue to send a hard copy to Associate Members Members, Members, Fellows and Marine Members and this will now use fully compostable packaging.
All members will be able to enjoy the digital version of the magazine, as well as the full back catalogue, online. We will also be working with Think to develop more quality online content to make sure we are providing you with the most up-to-date industry news each week.
You may have heard about the closure of Caspian Media, who have been producing The Marine Professional on our behalf since 2014. Fortunately, we were already at an advanced stage of planning our switch to Think so please be assured this was not a rushed decision - we are simply bringing forward our existing plan for the transition to our new supplier. As a result, you will experience minimum disruption and will be able to enjoy the new look magazine and digital newsletter sooner.
We are confident that the move to Think presents the Institute with an opportunity to transform and reinvigorate the title to delight its readers and deliver more value to members.
As part of the relaunch of The Marine Professional, we are running an industry survey for readers. If you are a professional in the marine sector, we are keen to hear from you.
