The rapid progression of technology, although beneficial, has caused a huge safety issue for the marine workforce, due to larger labour requirements for management of various systems. The call for a movement towards software driven control has consequently resulted in greater power demands.
Systems such as these have become of utmost importance in achieving necessary safety, reliability and availability standards, yet the logistical difficulties of creating a universal and inexpensive system meeting all environmental and legal requirements delays the process of integrating a fully functional marine electrical and control systems safety (MECSS).
