IMarEST TV recording by the North East Coast Joint Branch on the 20th May 2021. This webinar was presented by Inness-Ian MacDonald is a Naval Architect working for BAE Systems Naval Ships.
When HMS Duncan was launched from BAE Systems Govan on 11th October 2010, little did anyone know that this would likely be the last dynamic launch BAE Systems would carry out on the Clyde. Fast-forward 10 years and HMS Glasgow is well into her production and engineering work is beginning to gear up to prepare her for her launch. Two similar ships with two very different launching methods.
This presentation addresses the key differences in these methods and discuss why for T26 a conscious decision was made to move away from traditional launching methods in favour of a modern solution and what benefits it brings.
