The webinar introduces the topic of the lifecycle analysis of alternative low and zero-carbon fuels for decarbonising shipping, the current situation of the debate at the IMO and the various opinions regarding the methodology and rules relevant to the definition and development of low and zero-carbon fuels for shipping.
The webinar begins with an overview of the current state of play at the IMO with regards to this crucial topic which will define the course of alternative fuels options that are available for shipping to reduce it’s GHG emissions in line with IMO’s initial GHG strategy. This is followed by presentation of the work done by EDF and UMAS on how the IMO can use the work done by ICAO on Sustainable Aviation Fuels framework as a starting point to guide the development of its own rules on low and zero-emission fuels.
A panel discussion with key experts and co-sponsors of key IMO papers discuss the key areas of their proposals afterwards.
