Dr. Thomas Beard is a chartered engineer and the clean maritime lead at BMT. He has a PhD in Hydrogen Safety from Loughborough University and has over a decade of experience in alternative fuels. He is a member of several industry working groups and academic advisory boards. He has published and presented numerous papers on the topic of alternative fuels for maritime and naval platforms.

Ir. G.H. (Gerard) Wiegersma is a graduate of the Delft University of Technology in Marine Technology (2024). Currently, he is a marine engineer for the Royal Netherlands Navy with the Materiel and IT Command
Senior Engineering Consultant, BMT
Tom is an Obsolescence Consultant working with MOD programmes developing the plans and practices for managing obsolescence. A former Weapon Engineer in the Royal Navy, serving primarily on Type 23 Frigates all over the world. His experience is predominantly with systems engineering and enjoys building his understanding of military systems and their integration. Out of work he lives on the south coast of the UK and spends his spare time dinghy sailing and cycling.
