This presentation aims to give a technical overview of the key AI/ML techniques that are being utilised across the marine sector. Starting with foundational machine learning and statistical techniques, then exploring deep learning techniques that have thrived on spatial and temporal problems. By exploring the motivation for each of these methods, the talk will aim to put these fundamental techniques and their architectures into context, armed with this understanding we will end on exploring the motivation for emerging AI/ML techniques in the marine sector. Ultimately, this talk should give the foundations for understanding and critically engaging with the technical use cases that follow
