Ethics in Shipbuilding and Maritime Engineering

The ethical construction of floating wind turbines and floating substations is critical for the long-term success of offshore wind generation. The purpose of this presentation, during floating structure construction and installation, is to provide guidelines for making ethical decisions in the conduct of the work.

The design and construction ethics are a set of core values, standards and behaviours. Abiding by standards and observing all laws and regulations are legal requirements and ethical obligations for all construction companies. The floating construction ethics need to be truthful and trustworthy, and it is expected that everyone will actively take responsibility for safety. All people involved in floating wind construction are valued, both employees and third-party personnel.

Floating wind construction and installation workers take ownership of their work. Performance is to be aligned with values and procedures; the best performance goal is justified by ethical behaviour. Superior performance and quality ensure future trust and confidence in floating offshore wind turbines. The presentation will explain continuous improvement, innovation and creativity in the construction and installation of future floating substations.
