Clean Shipping Service Lead, Principal Marine Engineer, BMT

Cadet, Indian Maritime University in Kolkata
Arunanshu Jha, a cadet at the Indian Maritime University in Kolkata, has an expanding research portfolio that focuses on seafarer well-being and sustainable shipping. His research on dual-fuel LNG retrofitting looks at practical ways to reduce the carbon footprint of current fleets while paving the way for biofuels and other greener alternatives. He has previously given presentations at national maritime forums on topics such as sustainable fuel studies with INSA and research on mental health at sea. He contributes a cadet's viewpoint that is influenced by both technical precision and a dedication to useful, expandable innovation.
Marine Technical Quality and Claim Assistant, World Fuel Services
I'm Emily Kyle, currently working as a Marine Technical Quality and Claim Assistant at World Fuel Services. My journey in the maritime industry began with studying for a BSc in Nautical Science at Liverpool John Moores University, alongside training as a Merchant Navy Deck Cadet with the Conway Merchant Navy Trust.
During my cadetship, I sailed on a range of vessels—from buoy tenders and PSV to cruise liners and yachts—before qualifying with my Officer of the Watch ticket and sailing as a Deck Officer with Carnival Cruises UK.
I then transitioned ashore to pursue an MSc in Logistics, Operations, and Supply Chain Management at Newcastle University, which led to a role in logistics as a Supply Chain Coordinator and Analyst. While I gained valuable experience in supply chain operations, I missed the marine industry and returned in September 2024 to join the technical team at World Fuel Services.
Since entering the bunker industry a year ago, I’ve been focused on supporting fuel quality claims and analysing historical data trends to help improve our understanding of fuel-related issues across the sector.
Quality and Claims Assistant - Marine Technical
My background is in chemistry, having graduated from the university of Newcastle-upon-Tyne with a chemistry degree in 2005 and I started my career in marine back in 2006 with Lintec, part of the Intertek group.
Joining as a lab technician I spent 3 and a half years performing routine ISO 8217 analysis on marine fuels before moving to the office as part of the customer services team, responsible for reporting fuel testing, BQS reports and involved with general enquiries and technical issues.
In April 2020, took over as Customer Services Manager at Intertek Lintec, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the department, with team members in both UK and Singapore.
Attended many industry conferences and events, including presenting at Oxford Bunker Course and Aracon.
Joined World Fuel Services in Feb 2025 as part of the Marine Technical team.
