Before the lecure, Evolution of MARPOL Annex VI with Andy Wright at 19:30, we plan to fit in the AGM before it starts at 19:00. All welcome.

The Dublin Branch is proud to welcome Andy Wright who is traveling from London where he represents IMarEST in the IMO. Andy is an IMarEST Fellow, Chartered Engineer, and IMarEST’s delegate on Fuels and Exhaust Emissions in the IMO.

Items Andy will discuss

  1.  Introduce how IMO works – with focus on Marine Environmental Protection Committee (MEPC) & Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR) – how these work
  2. How IMarEST works to help improve practical application of policy. Through each stage: Initiating / Progressing / Completion / Consequential
  3. Current work initiating NOx control now being considered by PPR 11 & non-identical replacement engines. Current work on thermal waste treatment devices
  4. ‘Progressing’ - inputs regarding Black Carbon emissions.
  5. On ‘completion’ how feedback is being handled from both the NOx and SOx controls.
  6. On ‘consequential’ would intend to illustrate from inputs resulting from oil fuel / fuel oil issue so amends to reg 18 and all and now sampling guidelines are being considered.

We hope you can join us for this rare opportunity to gain insight into how the IMO works and how IMarEST is involved with policy makers.

Refreshments and finger food will be provided.
