Overview:

As the IMO works on revisions to the IMO Code and STCW, what can they do about fatigue? Join our discussion in person to contribute.

Ten years ago, two major studies on seafarer fatigue, the HORIZON project and MARTHA study, concluded, yet the problem very much persists today. Now the IMO is undertaking a scoping exercise to inform ongoing reviews of the ISM Code and STCW.

  • What lessons came out of HORIZON and MARTHA?
  • What are seafarers telling the NI’s STEER project?
  • What is being discussed at the IMO?
  • How can the IMO effectively regulate to reduce fatigue?

Followed by a Question & Answer Session - come and join in person if you can and enjoy networking with fellow marine professionals.

Speakers:

  • Chaired by Steve Cameron (NI London Branch Chair, CMR, and Maritime Professional Council)
  • Captain Ann Pletschke CMMar CMarTech FNI, (Seagoing Master & STEER Project Manager)
  • Dr Claire Pekcan, (Maritime Applied Psychologist, ex. MARTHA Study)
  • Captain Chris O’Flaherty AFNI, (NI Lead Delegate to the IMO)
