About the event:

AI is being rapidly integrated into marine mammal conservation, often with claims of improved efficiency, scalability, and cost savings. However, many AI tools lack scientific validation, transparency, and ethical oversight, making it difficult for practitioners, policymakers, and industry leaders to determine which tools are truly effective.

This practitioner-focused discussion will provide a clear, structured guide for evaluating AI solutions, ensuring conservation professionals, regulators, and industry leaders can critically assess AI tools before adoption. It will also address gaps in AI governance, the risks of unverified AI, and the role of conservation professionals in setting responsible AI standards.
