The Polar regions are seeing increasing interest from both commercial and naval operators. For vessels to utilise these areas safely and efficiently, measures are needed to ensure that they are prepared both from a platform and a crew perspective for the conditions that they may encounter. Experience with the Royal New Zealand Navy’s vessel AOTEAROA in build has provided a case study in how a vessel can be prepared from a platform and operation perspective to work efficiently and safely in these conditions.
