Speaker: Professor James Covington,  Head of School of Engineering, University of Warwick.

Air pollution is increasingly recognised as a major health concern; however, the quality of the air we breathe indoors remains poorly understood and inconsistently regulated. This presentation explores the sources of air pollution in buildings and enclosed maritime environments, including ships, where ventilation, space and operational constraints create particular challenges. It will examine existing air quality guidance, the use of fixed and portable monitoring technologies, and how measurement can inform practical interventions. Finally, the talk will consider emerging sensing technologies and the challenges of delivering reliable, actionable air quality information in the future.
