Naval warfare is entering a transformational era in which emerging technologies, evolving threat vectors, and increasingly compressed engagement timelines are redefining the very character of maritime combat. This reflects one of the most profound technological and operational transformations since the advent of network-centric operations.
By the 2040s, the convergence of Artificial Intelligence, autonomous systems, stealth and hypersonic weapons, advanced sensing technologies, cyber warfare and multi-domain operations will fundamentally redefine the design, engineering and deployment of future naval combat platforms. The future battlespace will demand superior and higher levels of situational awareness, decision superiority, operational agility, cyber-resilience, tactical integrity and combat responsiveness that cannot be achieved through conventional platform-centric combat architectures. Traditional platform-centric combat architectures, conceived around the capabilities of an individual warship, will increasingly prove inadequate against the speed, complexity and concurrency of future maritime and combat threats.
This presentation examines the engineering philosophy and architectural transformation necessary to evolve the Future Integrated Naval Combat Platform into a distributed, intelligent and resilient combat ecosystem, enabled through AI-driven C6I³STAR architectures for sustained operational superiority in next-generation naval warfare. Rather than examining individual technologies in isolation, it presents a systems-engineering perspective on the future architecture of naval combat capability
