Defined Route for MCA Marine Surveyor Development Scheme
IMarEST is the professional membership body and learned society for marine professionals. Our 13,000 members, based in over 120 countries, and at sea, are engaged in all aspects of marine engineering, science and technology, and the industries and services that support maritime economies.
Marine Surveyors inspect, audit and survey ships and maritime ship operators to ensure that they meet UK, EU and international safety, management, welfare, security and anti-pollution regulations. Recruiting and training individuals into highly skilled surveyors, the MCA has introduced a structured competency framework for Marine Surveyors.
The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) has endorsed this framework as a route to professional membership, engineering registration and international recognition, which are becoming ever more important to practising MCA Marine Surveyors
