Being a Member (MIMarEST) demonstrates a high level of achievement in the marine sector, and provides you with professional recognition for your skills, knowledge and experience.
You will be eligible to apply for professional registration (such as becoming Chartered), showing that you are committed to the advancement of the industry and your profession within it, by striving for excellence.
Eligibility
To become a Member, you typically need to have been professionally engaged in the marine sector for five years and occupy a role with significant responsibility, although exceptional circumstances may warrant earlier recognition.
As well as attaining a position of such experience in a marine engineering, marine science or marine technology occupation, you must demonstrate a level of commitment to your continuous professional development (CPD) that is satisfactory to the Member Panel.
You may also qualify for professional registration in an appropriate registration category, provided you have the appropriate qualifications, experiential learning and professional competence.
