Amendment of IMarEST Events Programme 2020
In light of the spread of COVID-19 in the UK, the IMarEST is taking responsible action to ensure the safety of its members and the wider public.
Our 2020 events programme has been amended in line with the social distancing measures recommended by the Board of Trustees, details of which are laid out below.

Annual Conference & President’s Day Lecture
The IMarEST Annual Conference & President’s Day Lecture are postponed
This decision has been taken following consideration of the concerns raised by our members over attendance and the fact that travel bans have been put in place by many organisations- all of which will interfere with the holding of the event.
We are committed to running high quality events and allowing equitable participation. We feel in order to maintain the IMarEST Annual Conference as a flagship event, a postponement is the best approach.
You will receive an email on how to re-register for the Annual Conference and/or President’s Day Lecture once we have set a new date.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused and we very much hope to see you at this event later in the year.
Annual Dinner
The 117th IMarEST Annual Dinner will be postponed to 2021
The decision has been taken to postpone the 117th Annual Dinner until 2021.
If you have purchased a ticket or a table, your booking will be valid for this date and you do not need to take any further action following this email. You are already registered and on the guest list.
If you have been invited as a guest of the IMarEST but have bought a ticket for an additional guest, we will refund this ticket to you.
We will be in touch with our medal winners in due course with details of when they can expect to receive the award they would have accepted at the dinner.
European International Submarine Race
The fifth biennial European International Submarine Race (eISR) will be cancelled for 2020 and will resume in 2022.
The decision has been taken to cancel this year’s eISR. We will resume the race in 2022.
We will be in touch with our student teams in due course with further details of the submarine design competition.
