IMarEST Scottish Branch 72nd Annual Dinner

Scottish Branch 72nd Annual Dinner Celebrates a Successful Annual Dinner.

The Scottish Branch welcomed 206 attendees to its 72nd Annual Dinner, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow on 15 May 2026. Hosted by Branch Chair Cdr Robert Prideaux, the evening brought together members, guests, and representatives from across the maritime sector for a memorable celebration of the Branch’s achievements and the wider maritime community.

Guests enjoyed an excellent dinner accompanied by music from the HMS Neptune Volunteer Band, creating a fitting backdrop for the occasion.

During the evening, Cdr Robert Prideaux reflected on the Branch’s accomplishments over the past year and highlighted its continued growth and success. The Institute’s President, Professor Deborah Greaves OBE, delivered an engaging address, sharing insights into her distinguished career and outlining her priorities and ambitions for the year ahead.

The keynote industry speaker, Rear Admiral Martin Boyes, provided a thought-provoking overview of the current challenges and opportunities facing the Royal Navy, offering valuable perspectives on the evolving maritime landscape.

Although the advertised speaker, Tam Cowan, was unable to attend due to illness, attendees were delighted by the contribution of renowned Scottish after-dinner speaker Eric Davidson, who stepped in at short notice and provided an entertaining conclusion to the evening.

The Branch extends its sincere thanks to the maritime organisations that sponsored tables, as well as to the many members and guests whose support contributed to the event’s success.

Special recognition is also due to the Scottish Branch Committee, particularly Social Secretary David Montgomery, whose dedication, hard work, and attention to detail once again ensured the smooth delivery of this highly successful annual event.
